Local Schools and Colleges
Students of Woodstock, VA attend W.W. Robinson Elementary and Peter Muhlenberg Middle schools, which then filter into Central High School. All three schools are located within town limits. Woodstock is also the home of Massanutten Military Academy, a coeducational college preparatory school that serves students in grades 7-12. The academy is known for its military structure that fosters discipline in a supportive environment free of distraction, letting each student achieve their greatest learning potential. Massanutten Military Academy is also highly regarded for their Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.

Students who wish to obtain a degree in higher education may do at a number of nearby colleges and universities. These include Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown; Shenandoah University in Winchester; James Madison University in Harrisonburg; Shepherd College in Shepherdstown; Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD; and Piedmont Virginia Community College and the University of Virginia, both in Charlottesville.

Parks and Recreation
Three parks are located in Woodstock, and plans for another park, Fairview Park, are currently in the production phase. Community parks include W.O. Riley Park, Main Street Park, and Riverview Park.

The Shenandoah County Parks & Recreation Department organizes and runs different programs for residents. Activities provided by the Parks & Recreation Department include music and art classes, sports leagues, dance programs, weekly poker nights, and a variety of clubs. County facilities for public use include Shenandoah County Park, which features several sports fields and courts, the Tuscarora Trail, three gazebos, two picnic shelters, and several open meadows; Edinburg School; the Signal View 9-hole disc golf course in Maurertown; and the Keister Tract.

Whether you’re the next Tiger Woods or are just getting the hang of the game, Woodstock is within proximity to several golf courses that will challenge your skill as a player. Be sure to try your game at Bryce Resort, Jacksons Chase Golf Club, Shenvalee Golf Resort, Caverns Golf Course, Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Club, and Front Royal Golf Club.

Things to Do
Whether by land or air, there’s plenty to do in Woodstock. For instance, you can start off your day by taking a tour of Woodstock in a way you’ve never done it before—by hot air balloon! Get a bird’s eye view of the town by soaring through the skies in an hour-long tour in a hot air balloon courtesy of Valley Ballooning. If you’d rather stay on land, consider taking a spin around the roller rink at the Stoney Creek Roller Rink & Fun Center. Featuring fun rides and games for the whole family, the Stoney Creek Roller Rink & Fun Center is the area’s largest indoor amusement center.

Woodstock and Shenandoah County does an excellent job keeping the community calendar filled throughout the year with a variety of events and activities that bring residents together. Yearly events include Music on Main – Concerts in the Park; Vintage Woodstock Festival in June; a fireworks spectacular held at the Shenandoah County Fair Grounds during the 4th of July weekend; Route 11 Yard Crawl in August; Halloween on Court Square; Light Up Woodstock in December; and Home for the Holidays on Thursday evenings in December.
